One competition, two islands and so much solidarity
Amid the crystal-clear waters of Ischia and Ventotene, a special edition of two of the most important offshore sport fishing tournaments in Italy took place: the Italian Offshore Trolling Championship and the Big Fish Tournament. Two events much awaited by enthusiasts which, this year, sent out an important message: every strike can become a gesture of solidarity.
Thanks to the One Strike One Smile project, every fish caught during the competition became the occasion for a donation in favour of the children and young people cared for by Smile House Fondazione ETS. And for every donation, a flag was raised on board.
A symbolic gesture worth a great deal
At sea, over 300 flags were flown, each one a witness to a spontaneous commitment to the project. Each flag represented concrete help to guarantee surgical care and specialist pathways to young patients born with craniomaxillofacial malformations.
A special thank you goes to the crews Ticket To Ride and Argo, who stood out for the number of flags raised and received the Smile House Plaques for the commitment they showed, at sea and in solidarity.
When passion becomes commitment
The strength of the One Strike One Smile project lies in its simplicity: linking a sporting gesture to a charitable action. The result? A network made of people, stories and passion for the sea, which grows wider every year.
What makes all this possible is the bond built over the years between the sport fishing community and our Foundation. A bond that shows how sport can become a means of attention towards those in need, transforming competition into active participation.
A commitment that spans time
For over 25 years, Smile House Fondazione ETS has cared for children and young adults with cleft lip and palate and other rare malformations of the face.
Every bit of help, every donation, every flag raised allows us to support a journey that goes beyond the operating theatre, accompanying patients throughout their growth. A shared commitment, made possible also by those who, at sea or on land, choose to play their part.
