Specialist training

In the Smile House Model, highly specialised professional training represents the second of the fundamental pillars for ensuring quality, continuity and innovation in the care of cranio-maxillo-facial malformations. For us, training means building the future: for patients, for professionals and for the entire National Health Service.

Our objective is to develop a national network of professionals who are highly qualified and able to work within Smile House centres according to an integrated and multidisciplinary model, ensuring consistent, excellent care throughout the country.

The Smile House training pathway

We have designed a programme for doctors, nurses, dentists and other healthcare professionals – both from the National Health Service (S.S.N.) and private practice – interested in actively collaborating with the project.

This pathway of excellence includes:

General courses on the Smile House model, available in person, online and in distance-learning (FAD) format.
Single-specialty courses focused on specific areas (speech therapy, orthodontics, surgery and otorhinolaryngology, etc.)
Specific training within Smile House hospital sites, designed to address shortages of highly specialised staff.
ECM accreditation and issuance of official certification to operate according to the protocols guaranteed by the Foundation.

The Smile House outreach pathway

This programme is aimed at doctors, midwives, nurses and all staff involved in the birth pathway. The aim is to identify patients at an early stage and provide families and professionals with clear, up-to-date information on the care pathway available close to home, making a concrete contribution to reducing healthcare migration.

Training rooted in local communities yet national in scope

We develop our training programmes in constant collaboration with universities, the Istituto Superiore di Sanità and local health authorities, so as to ensure widespread and harmonised training coverage. The direct involvement of the Clinical Coordinators of the Smile House Centres ensures that the real needs of each area are met.

We are convinced that training new professionals means giving continuity to the Foundation’s mission: supporting every patient, wherever they are, along a complete, accessible and human care pathway.

For us, training is not a secondary activity, but the true driving force behind the quality and sustainability of the entire Smile House Model.
