SMILE HOUSE ROMA

The Centre was established following a memorandum of understanding signed on 14 March 2017 between the Lazio Region, ASL Roma 1 and Smile House Fondazione ETS. It represents the culmination of a long clinical and surgical journey that began back in 2011 in the Rome area: this facility was in fact strongly championed to meet the numerous requests from families wishing to rely on the specialist expertise of this particular team.

The Centre is a point of reference for the care, treatment and multidisciplinary management of children and adults born with cleft lip and palate or other facial malformations. The specialists accompany the patient and their family from prenatal diagnosis through to the end of psycho-physical development. The main goal of the pathway is to ensure not only the functional and aesthetic recovery of the face, but above all the full social integration of patients.

Services
To ensure comprehensive care, the Centre offers a complete range of specialist services:

• Meetings with the multidisciplinary team immediately after a prenatal diagnosis of cranio-maxillofacial malformation;
• Birth assistance, with the possibility of giving birth at the Ospedale San Filippo Neri;
• Dedicated nursing support for breastfeeding and nutrition;
• First check-ups at birth and genetic counselling;
  
• Surgical treatments (primary and secondary) and pre-surgical facial orthopaedics;
  
• Speech therapy support, hearing checks and psychological consultations;
  
• Orthodontic care and specific orthopaedic treatments;
  
• Multi-specialist follow-up check-ups.
