SMILE HOUSE CAGLIARI

The Centre was established thanks to a memorandum of understanding signed on 7 October 2013 between Smile House Fondazione ETS and ATS (Azienda Tutela e Salute) Sardegna. Under the direction of Prof. Maurizio Diego Foresti, the facility is an integral part of the Maxillofacial Surgery Unit of the Ospedale Santissima Trinità. It represents the culmination of a care pathway for the multidisciplinary treatment of facial malformations, in particular cleft lip and palate, begun thanks to the support of the Foundation.

The Smile House Centre in Cagliari is a point of reference for the care, treatment and multidisciplinary management of children and adults born with cleft lip and palate or craniomaxillofacial malformations. The multidisciplinary team follows every stage of growth starting from prenatal diagnosis, supporting patients from birth through to the completion of their development, and building a tailored pathway that focuses not only on physical wellbeing but also on the full social integration of patients.

The Centre offers services designed to ensure continuity of care and reduce the need for lengthy travel for treatments and periodic follow-ups:

• Consultations with the multidisciplinary team immediately after a prenatal diagnosis;
  
• The option to give birth at the Ospedale Santissima Trinità;
  
• First check-ups at birth and genetic and dysmorphology consultations;
  
• Primary surgical treatments and secondary;
  
• Pre-surgical dento-facial orthopaedics;
  
• Multi-specialist check-up visits;
  
• Assessment and speech therapy treatment;
  
• Visits for ear surgery and audiological assessments;
  
• Orthodontics and dento-facial orthopaedics;
  
• Psychological support.
