SH-ITP
We believe that caring also means sharing knowledge, passing on experience and strengthening the bond between those who care and those who are learning to do so. This is why specialist training is one of the pillars on which our Foundation’s work is built.
With this in mind, we are working towards an ambitious and concrete goal: on the one hand, we want to strengthen the skills of Italian doctors through continuing education and training pathways; on the other, we are committed to transferring the know-how gained by the Smile House network to healthcare professionals in other countries.
With this vision, we created SH-ITP (Smile House International Training Program), the programme dedicated to the intensive training of specialists in the treatment of cranio-maxillofacial malformations.
How the programme works: exchanges and seminars
The SH-ITP programme thrives on dynamism and constant exchange across three main strands:
- Training placements abroad: we enable Italian professionals to engage with highly complex cases and advanced treatment methodologies.
- Exchange projects in Italy: we welcome foreign doctors for intensive training periods within our Smile House network.
- Seminars and practical activities: we promote the exchange of experiences and different cultural approaches to enrich mutual expertise and help standardise care pathways worldwide.
The centre of excellence in India: the partnership with the GRS Institute
Thanks to the memorandum of understanding signed with the GRS Institute of Craniofacial Surgery in Hyderabad, India, led by Prof. Dr. Srinivas Gosla Reddy – one of the world’s leading experts – we have established a Centre of Excellence for Training that is unique of its kind.
This international centre runs highly specialised programmes for plastic surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons and paediatric anaesthetists, with a particular focus on the multidisciplinary treatment of facial malformations.
